Autocratic comes from the Greek root words “auto”, which means self, and “kratos” which means power. Therefore, autocracy is all about self-power. In other words, one person has absolute power. Within the confines of these coaching styles, there are other sub-roles played by the coach. These are the coach as teacher, role model, and teammate. Each is influenced by the coach’s autocratic-democratic leaning.
