The M has a little more power (an 88 would be more comparable)and a faster road gear than the 77 but thats about where the M's advantages end. The Oliver 77 has a 6 speed transmission, 6 cylinder engine, live pto, (a must for bailing)live hydraulics, and a 12 volt electrical system. The 77 just seems like a much more advanced tractor.The regular Farmall H head can be swapped for one from a Farmall 300. You could also put in different pistons and sleeves. You can get more horsepower out of a Farmall 300 or 350 piston and sleeve kit, but it won’t fit in the Farmall H block the same way.
