Whatever you do, don't do rs3 hcim. It's insanely punishing. When you die, all items held are deleted. Sure you only lose 1 of your several lives but you lose everything. There’s a whole HCIM thing that makes it challenging. it is only "unsafe" in terms of losing hardcore status. they keep items on death like anyone else. the "HCIM thing" is what adds the challenge here (sounds like you might be reading unsafe = item loss, which isn't totally unreasonable but also isn't how it works)
Safe deaths ate different than losing your hcim status. You can die in a safe death but still loose your status. The only place this is sort of true is gauntlet. Everywhere else that's a safe death (mains don't get a grave/lose items) leaves your status intact. This isn't the case for HC G IM, but is true for HCIM.
