#1. Hello, While investigating the cause of poor running issues / top end noise on our 4020 we found significant wear in the valve adjuster / pushrod region on some of the cylinders. Further inspection revealed that the rear facing plug in the rocker arm shaft had shifted, cutting off the oil supply to a good portion of the top end.The John Deere 4020 uses a cartridge-style oil filter that is 6-7/16 inches tall and 3-1/8 inches wide. This oil filter is commonly identified by the part number AR26350. Several reputable online retailers sell replacement oil filters for the 4020, including: Steiner Tractor Parts. Nick Young Tractor Parts.Then slide the outer quadrant back in and if possible, add an extra washer behind the snap ring to remove excess slop in quadrants. Rod #24 should not need adjustment if shifting was ok before the other rod broke.
