I just bought a Lefever Nitro Special 12ga with 30" barrels. S/N indicates manufacture in 1927. BEAUTIFUL gun. Superb mechanical condition. The bone charcoal case hardening is still quite visible on the bottom, and just a bit worn off on the sides. Checkering is still visible, but worn down quite a bit. Otherwise, the stock is gorgeous.Everything I've read says the Ithaca built Lefever Nitro Special's serial numbers began at 100000. We are going to need to see some pictures to see what you really have. A 4-digit serial number would be entirely possible for an Ithaca built Western Arms double.
