They'll also be able to use that 5d6 attack when a full Nuke isn't needed. Your way it's full nuke or nothing, meaning for the minor encounters the straight magus is doing less damage. Spells: Horizon Thunder is a decent alternative to Shocking Grasp. It's more versatile (although spell attack w/o spellstrike is going to hurt) and the damage is less swingy, but you lose the persistent damage against metal wearing enemies (I'm assuming the +1 doesn't matter, since your using the spellstrike role).

They're originally intended to be used with one empty hand. Although most of us use them with a 2handed weapon. This does the most damage, while sacrificing a minimal amount of AC. Dex build magus has the most AC, but deals significantly less damage than the 2h str build. That is the biggest hurdle for this build imo. You won't be a full gunslinger, so won't have your way reload until later levels to help even out your action economy. And Magus in general is already pretty action starved. Starlit is less so than the melee centric ones, but spellstrike being 2 actions makes it tough to fit in reload actions.
