The door will need to be placed on a rug and set on it's face. You then need to force the hinges open all the way as far as they will go. There is a flip up metal tab that you need to flip up to lock the hinges in place. Once the door or lid is closed, the Maytag washer can start functioning. If the door or lid is not properly latched, the door switch will prevent the Maytag washer from operating. If the lock is defective, the Maytag washer will not start or spin.
