When I opened it the next day, as I was entering a few final slurs, I noticed that the triplets I had entered days before no longer had brackets! There are 8th notes beamed in groups of 3 or 2, entirely different thing, and a matter of breaking the beams to your likings by using the beams palette, or, if you want a consistent beaming in the score, change the default beaming for 6/8 time sig.
