Ultimately, the success of the unit design process is measured by the ability of units in the field to carry out required mission tasks. Lessons learned and data collected from actual operations (e.g., Just Cause, Desert Shield/Storm) and training exercises provide feedback for the unit design process and for the revision of tables of organization. An organizational plan usually involves five steps, including strategic planning, operational planning and reviewing and revising throughout. Each step breaks down the step before, ensuring the organization can achieve the larger goals.
