I've got an older PTR 91 and it's a beaut in its wood furniture. Simple to maintain. Shoots the brass almost as far as the bullet. Accurate enough to keep groups the size of my hand at 100 yds. Sure its a bit weighty, but after growing up carrying a 16 lb bolt-action shotgun (Browning/Savage), that's not a significant drawback for me. The Heckler and Koch PTR 91 is an insanely accurate rifle. We tried it with different batches of ammo like Norma and Gold Medal Match and consistently got 1.2 to 1.3 MOA. With the Federal M80 149 grain ammo you can get 1.5 MOA on a regular basis. Some shooters have even reported sub MOA grouping at 100 yards.Aug 3, 2020 · So it looks like PTR is a durable and reliable choice, but a 91-type rifle from a manufacturer with government/military contracts is better. That's subjective. The right contracts are reliable and more collectible. I would argue that the difference of reliability between modern PTR and contracts is negligible.
