The fact that it's just an optional feature actually makes it worse for me, as it shows insecurity in the way people are gonna react to this mechanic. Just buff mortars without this ridiculous step, or at least make reinforced barrels craftable. Please, if somebody wants to explain the design decision behind this I would welcome it.
