LAWRENCE — University of Kansas students are putting the finishing touches on an oral history of Kansas journalism that will tell the story of seven notable Kansas news figures.The journalism program retained that status for many years. In 1944, after the death of William Allen White, the world-famous editor of the Emporia Gazette, the Kansas Board of Regents established the William Allen White School of Journalism and Public Information. This scholarship in electronic media honors the professor emeritus who headed broadcast education at the School of Journalism from 1955 to 1984 and taught at KU for 33 years until 1988.
