If 88 is like 89, there will be a gaggle of yellow switched 12V wires in the harness and all seem to be spliced on my 89 right in the center of the harness on the firewall. As mentioned above the yellow switched 12V to the coil will have a resistor which you don't want in the HEI feed. I took note that there was 2 wires. One marked with a yellow line going to the coil, and the other marked with a red line tied in with the 12v feed on the resistor.The reason that wiring is a little confusing at first is because the HEI wants a full 12v to run properly, and the usual wire to the coil on a Ford is at the end of a resistor wire which cuts the voltage down to more like 8-9 volts instead.
